The Voice of the Mountain View Yellowjackets on Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ, Kevin Johnson, was selected as the 2019 Sully Award winner by the Little Rock Touchdown Club on Thursday afternoon for the Most Outstanding Football Play Call for Arkansas high school football coverage.

The award honors a sportscaster for their ability to set up a call and paint a vivid picture of the game for the listeners on the radio. The call was J’Air Jackson returning a 60-yard punt for a score against the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves. (Listen to the clip below.)

The Sully Award is named in honor of KATV Sports Director Steve Sullivan and is presented to the top broadcast play call during both high school and college football games for the season. A selection panel chooses one call for each level of play, and the winners are honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club’s annual awards banquet.

“This award is a great way to honor announcers who do such a great job but seldom get the recognition they deserve,” Sullivan said.
