The Southside Southerner raced out to a 16-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in their win over the Batesville Pioneers in senior boys action Monday night at Batesville with a final score of 57-44.
The Southerners improved to 5-12 overall, 2-4 in conference play as the Pioneers fall 12-6, 1-5.
The Southerners were led by Devan Halford’s 19 points as he went 13-15 from the free-throw line, Trevor Longo added 13 and Blayne Bufford had 10.
Dawson McMahan led the Pioneers with 13 and Caleb Anderson added 12.
The sixth-ranked Lady Southerners travel across the river tonight to take on the number one ranked Lady Pioneers tonight at Batesville.
The senior boys’ next opponent will be Friday night at home against the number two ranked Blytheville Chickasaws.
