Independence County Deputy Sheriff Adam McGilton said he was patrolling Wednesday morning on Camp Tahkodah Road when he observed a black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling west, according to the incident report.

In the report, McGilton noted recognizing the man operating the motorcycle as Travis Harlin Hutson (pictured), 43. McGilton said he was aware that Hutson was wanted on felony warrants.

After turning around, the officer activated his patrol car’s emergency lights and siren and attempted to catch up to the cycle.

According to the report, the motorcycle sped on, turning onto McHue Road and accelerating again as it crossed a double yellow line and passed a vehicle. McGilton caught up to the motorcycle as it reached speeds around 90 to 100 mph. The cycle then turned onto Mount Vista Circle, pulling into the driveway of a residence and parking in front of a garage.

Deputy McGilton said he exited his vehicle, drew his service weapon, and conducted a felony take-down on Hutson, noting in the report that Hutson was compliant with all his orders and was placed into hand restraints.

Hutson was checked through the Arkansas Crime Information Center which showed he was wanted on felony warrants. His driver’s license was also suspended.

At the Independence County Jail, Hutson was charged with fleeing, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and careless driving.
