During last night’s meeting of the Izard County Quorum Court, a former sheriff was selected to complete the term of Sheriff Earnie Blackley.
Blackley passed away earlier this month after a battle with cancer.
Jack Yancey (pictured) was the selection. In 2017, Yancey completed the term of former Sheriff Tate Lawrence, who also passed away in office.
Yancey comes from work on the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force. He commanded that group — which took over a half-million dollars in drugs off the street in 2019.
