breaking-news__nocounty_whiterivernow-1-9

The Independence County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating threats to commit arson and harm law enforcement officers.

In a statement released this morning, the department noted it “…has received information on individuals making threats to burn houses and shoot law enforcement as they exit their home.”

The department noted people are being interviewed regarding the threats, and from their investigations, it’s believed the threats are possibly coming from a prison gang due to the high level of illicit drug arrests of individuals affiliated with the gang.

“The threats are continuously being investigated and taken seriously,” the statement said. “The threats will not slow our investigations of illegal drug activity.”

The department said it is releasing the information for officer safety. Any information in regards to the threats can be reported to the Independence County Sheriff’s Department at (870) 793-8838.
