Obituary: Richard Lee Fidler

Richard Lee Fidler, 91, of Mountain View passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020.

He was born on Dec. 6, 1928, in Peoria, Illinois to Charles Alonzo Fidler and Katie Lee (Grigsby) Fidler.

Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mountain View. He served in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. During the Great Depression, his family moved from Illinois to California where he played the saxophone in numerous jazz bands in California. He worked for Caterpillar for 32 years as a design engineer. He had a dry sense of humor and loved airplanes, gardening, cats; and was able to build or fix anything. He also worked on stained glass projects.

Survivors include his daughter, Julie Marie Fidler (Don Taylor) of Mountain View; brother, Jerry Fidler (Kathy) of Dunlap, Illinois; brother-in-law, Donald Biddison of Chillicothe, Illinois; five grandchildren, Chad Fidler, Miranda Fidler, Samantha Fidler, Vincent Guyette, and Nicholas Guyette; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Earlene Marie (Biddison) Fidler; and two sons, Robert Dale Fidler and Michael Richard Fidler.

Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville, Arkansas, under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with Rev. Paul Seay officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made in his honor to your local VFW or Humane Society.
