Authorities say a Stone County man has been charged after a woman was seriously injured during a domestic altercation late last year.
In the court documents filed yesterday in Stone County Circuit Court, Mountain View Police were dispatched to the Stone County Medical Center in reference to the victim of an assault. The victim told police she was hit so hard in the face by Luke Wayne Berry, 39, during a Dec. 29, 2019, incident that she suffered a broken jaw bone, facial fractures, and loose teeth.
The victim told police she was almost knocked unconscious and was left lying in the road by Berry (pictured). After making it back to her home, she was later treated at the medical center, the court docs said. Investigators said in the probable cause affidavit that the victim suffered “…broken sinus cavities and numbness in teeth and gums,” and her jaw was repaired with pins and plates.
According to the court information, Berry has an extensive history of aggravated assault and battery charges against him. In addition to the domestic battery charge, Berry will be tried under the Habitual Offender Law, having previously been convicted of four or more felonies.
Berry’s bond has been set at $50,000.
