Obituary: Ewell James Campbell

Ewell James Campbell, 86, of Batesville passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.

He was born on Nov. 6, 1933, in Bethesda, Arkansas to George Stanford Campbell and Ruby J. (Kirkland) Campbell.

Ewell was a member of Ruddell Hill Baptist Church, a United States Army veteran and also worked for 22 years for Banquet Foods. He was a physically strong and dependable guy who enjoyed growing his flower garden; he especially loved deer hunting and fishing, and was nicknamed “Dead Eye!”

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Audrey Marie (Womack) Campbell; son, Randy Williams (Susan) of Collierville, Tennessee; daughter, Janet Kelly (Gary) of Manchester, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Kyle Kelly, Clayton Williams, and Kim Norton; three great-grandchildren, Audrey Norton, Maddie Norton, and Isaiah Kelly; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; twin sister, Jewell Payne; and niece, Charlene Kealer.

Pallbearers are Danny Mullins, William Mullins, Kyle Kelly, Clayton Williams, Bobby Davis, and Butch Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Leonard, Ransom Pogue, and Gary Gipson.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville with Bro. Tommy Medley, Bro. Danny Smith, Randy Williams and Kyle Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery in Bethesda.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Ruddell Hill Baptist Church, 805 Bethesda Road, Batesville, AR 72501.

The family would like to give a special thanks to White River Area Agency on Aging; his personal caregivers, Anna Gipson, Kelc Hall, and Kyla Hays; as well as Caring Hands Hospice and nurse, Melanie Loggains.
