Obituary: Mollie Mae Allen Slayden

Mollie Mae Allen Slayden, 90, of Desha died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.

She was born May 16, 1929 in McHue, Arkansas to Herman “Red” and Mae Allen.

Mollie loved her God and her family, especially her grandkids; she was a member of Desha Methodist Church for over 80 years, she belonged to the United Methodist Women, VFW Auxiliary and volunteered at the hospital as part of the WRMC Auxiliary. She was retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 37 years. She enjoyed sports and was a big fan of basketball. Mollie enjoyed going on walks.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Duncan (Donald) of Southside; son, Jay Slayden (Vananda) of Desha; four grandchildren, Cindy Drummond (Ardie) of Huxley, Iowa, Nancy Duncan (Jerry) of Desha, Tishila Farmer (Shane) of Beebe and Brisden Slayden (Crystal) of Desha; eleven great-grandchildren, Kyler Duncan, Shelby Drummond, Bethany Farmer, Allie Beth Duncan, Trey Drummond, Teighlor Farmer, Ty Farmer, Haddie Slayden, Carlee Holman, Josie Holman and Turner Holman; and one great-great-granddaughter, McKinley Christopher.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband L.J. Slayden.

Pallbearers will be Brisden Slayden, Jerry Duncan, Ardie Drummond, Shane Farmer, Ty Farmer, and Kyler Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be Margaret Wilson, Marilyn Harmon, Teina Osgood, Mac Harmon, and Julia Harmon.

Graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Alderbrook Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at the funeral home.
