A West Batesville resident’s security camera revealed the culprit in an early morning theft Sunday.

According to a release from the Batesville Police Department, the resident had gotten up around 3 a.m. yesterday and noticed a man standing on the porch of the residence. The man ran from the scene after the resident screamed.

BPD officials say a review of video from an on-site security camera showed a man walk up onto the porch, take a ball-shaped lamp, and then run away.

The release noted the suspect is known by authorities and an arrest warrant was prepared. The name of the suspect was not released by officials.
