The Independence County Quorum Court will hear a proposal concerning law enforcement and fire departments at tonight’s meeting of the JPs.

The funding idea, suggested by a quorum court member, involves fire departments across the county helping to add a couple of deputies that are needed by the sheriff’s department.

The president of the White River Fire Fighters Association, Chief Brent Gleghorn of the Batesville Fire Department, will present the idea to the full court.

Gleghorn’s presentation was added late to the court’s agenda.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. tonight at the Jess B. Carpenter Building, 368 E. Main St. in Batesville.
