Four Batesville High School Theatre students and members of Thespian Troupe #6564 attended the Arkansas Thespian Festival at Arkansas State University, Feb. 13 through Feb. 15.

Three students received Excellent Ratings for their events: Canon Luter for Short Film, Kenly Long for Monologue, and Rebecca Skinner for Solo Musical.

In addition to competing, students attended various theatre workshops led by theatre professionals and Broadway artists.

“Thespian [Festival] was a wonderful opportunity to meet people interested and involved in the theatre world. I’m so thankful I got the opportunity to work with actors, producers, and casting directors to build my understanding of each element within the [theatre] industry,” said Kenly Long, BHS Senior and Thespian Troupe #6564 president.

Arkansas Thespians is an honor society for theatre students that provides leadership and service opportunities for high school students. Membership to Arkansas Thespians is by invitation only. Invitations are given to students who receive excellent grades in school and show dedication to their school’s theatre department.
