Tuesday night at Bergman High School, the Mountain View Yellowjackets advanced to the semifinals of the Class 3A-1East District Tournament with a dramatic 48-46 victory over the Marshall Bobcats.
Junior Bryce Baird took a pass from J’Air Jackson and hit a layup with two seconds left from the block to break a 46-46 tie and give Mountain View the victory.
The Bobcats had hit a three-pointer with one minute to go in the game to take their first lead, 45-44.
Jackson followed that with a layup to put Mountain View up by one with 35 seconds left.
Marshall would hit one of two free throws with seven seconds left to tie the game before Baird’s winning shot.
Mountain View was led by Jackson with 16 points, Baird added 13 points, six rebounds, Brayden Scribner had 10 points, six rebounds, and Freshman Beck Morrow added five points.
Mountain View advances to play Valley Springs on Friday night at 5:30.
The Yellowjackets also punch their ticket for the Regional Tournament next week at Waldron.
