Batesville Fire Dept. responds to overnight fire on Case Street

bfd-case-st-1

While most of us were fast asleep this morning, the Batesville Fire Department was battling a fire on Case Street in East Batesville.

The call came in at 3:10 this morning, and fire department trucks were on the scene within two minutes, according to the BFD. The fire department personnel said the living room was involved in heavy fire, extending to the attic.

The department reminds everyone of the saying, “Close before you doze,” and that may have proven to be good advice early this morning. A child’s room next to the living room was almost untouched, but did have light smoke. Fire department officials said it’s very possible the closed doors saved the lives of those inside. All occupants of the residence made it out with only minor injuries.

The fire scene was cleared at 5:32 a.m.
