The evening of March 3 was lengthy for many of the country’s election officials and candidates alike as the fate of many different levels of political leadership was determined.

Even though the polls closed at 7:30 p.m. across the state, that was when the heavy-lifting really began.

White River Now focused mainly on Independence, Sharp, Izard, Stone, and Jackson counties’ local races while also helping inform the public of non-partisan judicial races and the winners of each presidential primary.

Early-on national news outlets called the results of the presidential primaries.

The winner of the Arkansas Republican Primary was named as none other than current President Donald J. Trump.

Former Vice President Joe Biden won the Arkansas Democratic Primary which according to many political analysts came as a surprise due to the lack of campaigning effort from Biden in the state. Locally, many wondered how the recent paternity suit involving his son Hunter Biden would impact Biden’s success at the polls.

The first local results of the night came in from Independence and Izard counties. The remaining counties following in-line.

Barbara Womack Webb was elected to fulfill the vacancy on the Arkansas Supreme Court over Morgan “Chip” Welch.

Final results on the last two races we have been watching are now available. The winner is marked with a green checkmark.
