A community service worker who walked off the job in Independence County has been found and arrested in Texas.

Sheriff Shawn Stephens said this morning that Matt Thomas, who was working on a county truck collecting trash in the Pleasant Plains area walked away on Wednesday.

Sheriff Stephens said Thomas was working off fines on some misdemeanors and had been in jail since December of last year.

The Sheriff said Thomas was taken into custody by U. S. Marshalls in Grandbury, Texas, 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Sheriff Stephens said Thomas and his wife were caught in a U-Haul vehicle his wife had rented.

Stephens said he is discussing with prosecutors about possible charges to be filed.

  1. i commented when it was reported that he had walked away and now i am commenting about the idiot getting caught. his stupidity makes him unique for sure!! wonder if he studied that in school?? if for some odd reason i would get put in jail, they could leave the cell door open and i wouldn’t go anywhere until i am legally released.
