The Melbourne Lady Bearkatz clinched their third consecutive trip to the state semifinals with a win Thursday night against the Bigelow Lady Panthers.
It was a sloppy first quarter, with both teams turning the ball over and not getting shots to fall.
The Lady Katz defense held strong though, only allowing 2 points in the opening quarter. The second frame was where Melbourne opened the floodgates, scoring 25 points in the quarter to open up a 32-18 halftime lead.
Bigelow could never get it to less than an 11 point deficit, as the Lady Katz pulled away to a 54-38 win.
Kenley McCarn led the way for Melbourne with 14 points, Kiley Webb and Jenna Lawrence each added 10.
The Lady Katz will play at noon on Saturday against either Riverside or Des Arc.
