Late Wednesday night, a man and woman died in a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 25 and State Highway 92 in Drasco.
The Arkansas State Police Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary states Donavan Adams, 42, was driving a Toyota FJ SUV around 11:30 p.m. on Highway 25 and was attempting a left turn onto Highway 92.
The vehicle failed to negotiate the turn and the SUV rolled into a ditch on its right side and caught fire.
Both Adams and the woman, Sherily O’Farrell, 53, were trapped and perished in the blazing SUV.
Batesville High School Softball coach, Scott Hoffman said on his Facebook page that he came upon the crash.
He said other people at the scene were yelling for help.
Hoffman and another man grabbed a folding table out of Hoffman’s truck and busted out the back window.
Hoffman said they couldn’t reach the couple due to the flames.
“I am so sorry we failed. We tried so hard. Please pray for the family,” stated Hoffman.
Trooper First Class Andrew Pannell said the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time of the accident.
