The Melbourne Lady Bearkatz advanced to their second consecutive state championship game Saturday afternoon with a 68-54 win over the Des Arc Lady Eagles.
A sluggish first quarter was again the name of the game, as the teams traded baskets, and ended with a 15-12 Des Arc lead.
The Lady Katz turned it on in the second quarter, scoring 23 points to take a 35-27 win into the half.
Great outside shooting continued in the second half, as the lead grew to as many as 20 points before the end of the game.
Kenley McCarn led all scorers with 25 points, Jenna Lawrence added 14, and Kiley Webb had 12.
Melbourne improves their record to 33-2 and advances to the championship game Thursday night at 6:00 and will face Quitman.
