The Southside Lady Southerners’ successful season ended with a loss in the state quarterfinals in Farmington Friday night to the undefeated Star City Lady Dogs, 61-49.
The Southerners got nine points from London Cuzzort in the first quarter but trailed 19-16 at the end of the first quarter.
Star city upped the lead by two more points leading 33-28 at the half.
Star City put on the brakes in the second half, going to the “four corners offense” with their last 14 points coming from the free-throw line.
The Southerners end their best season in years with a 25-7 record.
London Cuzzort led the Southerners with 16 points, Reese Gardner and Kamie Jenkins each had 10.
