Juanita (Altom) Bolin, formerly of Newark, departed this life on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the age of 89. She was born June 2, 1930, in Tupelo, Ark., the daughter of Arthur and Dahlia (Bridges) Altom.

Juanita and Terral Bolin were married, and moved to the Oak Hill community, building their first home together. It was at the small country church, Oak Hill Church of Christ, that she was saved. She and her children attended services there many years until the church closed. At that time, Juanita took her family to Sulphur Rock Church of Christ, and after several years it also closed. She then attended church at the Newark Church of Christ. After her husband passed away, she bought a house in Batesville and began attending church at Harrison Street Church of Christ. Later, when her health began to decline, she moved to an assisted living and started attending Quail Valley Church of Christ. She made many wonderful Christian friends over the years and was always so proud when her family could attend services with her and fill the pews.

Juanita was a homemaker, first and foremost. Her life was dedicated to her family, and she spent many hours attending their basketball games and supporting her children in their many various activities. She was chapter mother for her daughter’s FHA group, and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. She received her GED after spending many years raising her children.

Juanita was a talented seamstress. She made most of her children’s clothes during their school years and continued to make clothes for them and the grandchildren for many years, just because she enjoyed sewing so very much. She also did sewing for the public and was known to be an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. They are treasured gifts of her love.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Terral Bolin; an infant daughter, Robin Gail Bolin; two brothers, Harlas Altom and Shelby Reding; five sisters, Geraldine Kisner, Virginia Lingo, Ruth Ford, Alvada Smart, and Susie Barnes; her father, Arthur Altom; her mother, Dahlia (Bridges) Altom Reding; and her step-father, Henry Reding.
