A U-Haul truck spotted at the Eagle Mountain Shopping Center was over its allowed rental date when police confronted the driver.

Police then escorted the U-Haul back to the dealership in West Batesville.

After arriving, Patrolman Pierce asked the driver if all of his belongings were out of the vehicle.

When the driver opened the rear hatch of the U-Haul, officers spotted a male subject in the back of the truck.  He was identified as Joshua Ray Scott, 28.’

Officers spotted a knife sheath on Scott, and began “patting him down.”  They didn’t find any weapons but did find a glass smoking pipe, like those used in smoking methamphetamine.

Scott was then placed under arrest and the search continued.  That’s when they found Scott hiding four plastic bags containing what tested positive as methamphetamine.

Scott was taken to jail and later charged in Circuit Court with two felonies; possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
