WRMC announces new guidelines; one visitor allowed only for patients with special circumstances

Due to the reports of three confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Independence County, White River Health System has amended their visitor guidelines.

Effective immediately, visitors will not be allowed at White River Medical Center (WRMC). Patients with the following special circumstances will be allowed one visitor: critically ill patients; patients receiving end-of-life care; mothers in active labor; and pediatric patients.

The East Entrance is now closed, and patients are asked to use the Emergency Entrance on the west side of the WRMC campus.

The hospital said in a statement they understand the challenge this creates for patients and their loved ones, but that the measures are being implemented for the protection of WRMC patients and employees based on guidance from the Arkansas Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control.
