Independence County Judge Robert Griffin released a statement in response to the news of a presumed positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the White River Health System. (Click here for more information on that story.)
Griffin noted with the likelihood of additional cases coming, Glen Willis, the county’s Director of Emergency Management, picked up personal protective equipment from the state on Saturday to provide to first responders.
“While supplies are short, we believe we can get by,” the judge said in his statement. “We also ordered over 4,000 N95 masks from a private emergency services supplier for delivery as soon as possible.”
Griffin also said he appreciated the local partnership with White River Medical Center, the Arkansas Department of Health, the Office of Emergency Management, and all other emergency services in this health issue.
“We must remember to check on older neighbors, maintain a safe distance from others (six feet or more), wash hands frequently, and avoid gathering in crowds larger than ten,” the judge said.
