Obituary: Robert “Robbie” Donald Hindman, II

Robert “Robbie” Donald Hindman, II of Newport departed this life on Friday, March 20, 2020, at the age of 60. He was born on December 11, 1959, in Newport.

Robbie was a 1978 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School, later earning a degree from Arkansas State University. He was a real estate broker in Newport since 1983, voted Jackson County’s Best Real Estate Agent six times. Robbie was the 1986 State Duck Calling Champion and served as a judge many times. Over the years, he qualified several times to compete at the World Duck Calling Championship.

Robbie was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Arkansas Razorback fan and enjoyed going to Gold Strike. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was his niece and nephew’s biggest fan.

Robbie was a longtime devoted member of the Newport Lions Club, beginning in 1992. In 2000-2001, he served as president and was 9th in seniority. Robbie was awarded the Edward Dalstrom Distinguished Service Award, which the highest honor bestowed upon a Lion’s Club member. The award is given to a Lion’s Club recipient for outstanding dedication, service, and loyalty to the club.

Most importantly, Robbie loved his family. His best friend was his nephew, Luke Hindman, and together they made many memories.

Robbie is survived by his father and stepmother, Don Hindman (Bobbie); his mother, Nellie Jo Ahlf; one brother, Randy Hindman, and wife, Shannon; one sister, Lisa Dickens and husband, Gary, all of Sherwood; nieces and nephew, Britt Hall (Dustin), of Austin, and Luke and Savanna Hindman of Sherwood; a special cousin, Lacey Wayland Vaulner of Newport; many extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Due to current health concerns, a public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Lion’s Club.
