Vehicle fire listed by Independence County Sheriff’s Department as an arson

fire-background-2020-1-2

The Independence County Sheriff’s Department says a vehicle fire just before 9 p.m.  Thursday presented a few complications.

First, how did the vehicle catch fire? No one could be found in that area of Radio Tower Road where it intersects with Heber Springs Road. The S-10 pickup’s license plate said the truck was the property of a Locust Grove man.

Another complication — the VIN (vehicle identification number) — displayed on the truck did not match the VIN number that was registered with the license number.

And, the truck had not been reported as stolen. Detective Michael Moody has begun investigating the incident.
