Independence County detectives are investigating the theft of an ATV from Independence County Off-Road in Southside.
Deputy Cydney G. Baxter reports that a man test-drove the vehicle Saturday afternoon and returned it shortly to the business along with the ignition key.
Company employees said the ATV was placed in a particular spot before the store closed later in the afternoon with the key put in the manager’s office.
Monday morning, Deputy Baxter said store employees noticed the ATV missing. Baxter said a thorough search was made, but the vehicle was not on the property.
The incident is being investigated as a felony theft since the ATV sells for $19,959.
