A Gatesville, Tex., man landed in the Stone County jail early Monday morning on felony drug charges.

According to court information, Mountain View police officers stopped a vehicle on North Bayou Drive on a traffic violation. The suspect, James Michael Baron (pictured), 59, was a passenger in the vehicle.

The court info said his extremely nervous condition led officers to interview him, during which they became suspicious that drugs may be involved. The driver gave permission for the officers to search the vehicle.

They found Baron’s wallet in the passenger’s seat, and a search of it found a small, clear baggy containing a white powdery substance that tested positive as methamphetamine. And, court documents also note that under the front seat, a glass smoking device was found.

Baron was taken into custody and charged in Stone County Circuit Court with possession of a controlled substance, namely meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Both charges are Class D felonies.

Baron is now in the Stone County jail under a $10,000 bond.
