Ruth (Weaver) Wood, 102, of the Gainsboro Community near Charlotte passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
She was born on October 31, 1917, in Charlotte to Joseph Alson Weaver and Una Mae (Churchill) Weaver.
Ruth was a long-time member of Sharp United Methodist Church. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took great pride in cooking for her family. She was a hard worker, loved to garden and took care of her yard until she was 88 years old. She loved to watch ”Days of Our Lives” and westerns on TV and enjoyed playing dominos, bingo, and wahoo as well as card games.
Survivors include her two sons, Thomas (Linda) Wood and Billy Don (Donna) Wood both of Charlotte; two daughters, Linda (Jim) Hinkle and Judy (Steve) Cargill both of Batesville; eight grandchildren, Eric Wood, Brian Wood, Jimmy Wood, Marc Anderson, Gray Anderson, Julie Hinkle, Ashley Garner and Jesse Cargill; eleven great-grandchildren, Kinley Wood, Gracie Wood, Faithe Inman, Laney Green, Morgan Wood, Kloee Wood, Kylee Wood, Maggie Anderson, Carson Allender, Thomas Garner V; and Becket Garner; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest G. Wood; six brothers, J.B. Weaver, Judson Weaver, Mark Weaver, Taylor Weaver, Joe Ed Weaver and Burl Weaver; and two sisters, Willie Ray Wood and Faye James.
There will be a private graveside service held under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with Bro. John Moore officiating.
