Authorities say a car that had been stolen from the parking lot of the Batesville Hardee’s was found four days later at a Newport motel — along with the two people who had apparently been occupying the car.

Batesville Police say the Oldsmobile Alero was stolen on April 12. The man who owned and parked the car told authorities he had left the keys in the ignition.

On April 16, Sgt. Chris Little with the Batesville Police Department was notified that Newport Police were out with the stolen vehicle at the Lakeside Inn in Newport.

Bryce Nelms and Madelyn Hawkins were taken into custody, according to BPD officials. Charges against the two are pending.
