Obituary: Donald Ray Barnhill

Donald Ray Barnhill of Newport departed this life on April 17, 2020, at the age of 74. He was born July 29, 1945, the son of George Barnhill and Francis Bernice (Freeman) Eubanks.

He had worked as a welder at Brown Jordan for 27 years until it closed. He had learned to weld as a young man while working for Nicholson’s Welding Shop. He was a graduate of the ASU Truck Driving Program. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, working in his yard, and watching westerns. His greatest joy was taking care of his family. He was a member of the Jacksonport Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold Barnhill: and one sister, Janice Barnhill.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norine (Foust) Barnhill; one son, Willie Don Barnhill and wife, Kim, of Newport; one daughter, Rachel Jackson and husband, Steve, of Newport; four sisters, Carol Jean Roberts and husband, Calvin, of Augusta; Shirley Rohrscheiv of Searcy, Linda Reid and husband, Bobby, of Newport, and Deloris Guthrie and husband, Michael Doane, of Forrest City; four grandchildren, Brittany Cunningham and husband, Tony, of Newport, Steven Tyler Jackson and wife, Claire, of Calamine, Chris Brannon of Newport, and James Brannon of Newport; nine great-grandchildren, Lainey, Lottie, Joli, Brett, Chase, Charlie, Chloe, Madelyn, and Jadelyn; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
