David Campbell (pictured), principal of Batesville High School, visited with Gary Bridgman of the White River Now family of radio stations this morning. In the interview, Campbell told Gary B. one of the most-asked questions he gets these days revolves around the BHS 2020 graduation ceremony.

“Graduation is the culminating academic event for our kids, preschool through 12th grade, and so we are committed to having some sort of event for them,” Campbell said. “Right now, we’re sort of in a holding pattern like many other schools. We’re just gonna wait and see what the CDC [Centers for Disease Control], the health department, and the governor says, and we’ll act in a safe and efficient way.”

Campbell said a good portion of the 2019-2020 class of seniors would like a ceremony at some point.

“One thing we did when this whole thing started, we surveyed our students, and our seniors were adamant. About 65 percent of them said ‘We want a traditional ceremony, and we’ll be willing to wait in the summer to do that.’ But right now, that’s what we’re looking at doing.”
