Jose J. Neri, 22, of Desha died Sunday, April 26, 2020.

He was born April 7, 1998, in Batesville to Juan Jose and Lisa Ginn Neri.

Jose was a member of the United Association Local 155 Plumber, Pipefitters, and Service Techs. He was an apprentice pipefitter and welder. Jose was very open, fun-loving, dependable, and hardworking. You never had to guess what he was thinking. He was always caring and thoughtful. Jose loved his niece and nephews along with the rest of his family. He loved the outdoors, boating, four-wheelers, and his tractor. He always said, “I’m here for a good time, not a long time.” Jose graduated from Southside High School in 2016 and attended UACCB where he obtained his proficiency in welding.

He is survived by his parents; one brother, Alex Neri of Desha; one sister, Ashten Wammack of Desha; paternal grandparents, Jose R. Tovar of Brownsville, Texas and Rosa M. Neri of Batesville; maternal grandparents, Denise Foster, of Locust Grove and Mike Foster of Batesville; one niece, Josie Barnes; two nephews, Ryan and Kaden Wammack; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.

Jose is preceded in death by his great grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

His family requests that memorials be made to uaccbfoundation.org (there is a place to specify it in Jose’s memory) or UACCB Foundation, Jose Neri Memorial, P.O. Box 3350, Batesville, AR 72503, for the benefit of future aspiring welders, that share his love and passion for welding.
