Obituary: David Honey

David Honey of Newport departed this life on Friday, May 1, 2020, at the age of 61. He was born August 26, 1958, in Newport, the son of Talmadge and Virgie Lee (Hackney) Honey.

He was a farmer and was retired from Jackson County, where he had worked as a heavy machine operator. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and four-wheeler riding. He was a gifted mechanic and spent a lot of time working on vehicles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Talmadge Honey.

Honey is survived by his mother, Virgie (Hackney) Honey of Newport; six sisters, Brenda Henard and husband, Randy of West Fork, Bobbie Thatcher and husband, Ronnie, of Amagon; Kathy Honey Buford of Newport, Gail Snyder and husband, Terry, of Newport, Beverly Tharp of Newport; and Dana Raeburn and husband, Chris, of North Little Rock; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Garden Cemetery at Johnstown.
