Obituary: William Hinkle Jr.


William Hinkle Jr., 82, of Newport departed this life Thursday, April 30, 2020.  He was born Nov. 10, 1937, the son of late William Edgar Hinkle and Mary Estelle Pigg.

He was a devoted member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ and a founding member of Village Creek Country Club.  Junior enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard, farming, and going fishing and hunting.  He had a servant’s heart and loved helping others.  This was evident in his commitment to the local farmers, Farm Serve-U-Center, and Helena Chemical for almost 45 years.  After retirement, he found his life’s calling in service for the Lord through his church’s prison ministry.  Junior was always known for his lemon icebox pies, his big heart, and his love for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Jerry Hinkle.

Junior leaves behind his wife of 46 years; Maude Hinkle of the home, one son; Bill Hinkle (Maria) of Russellville, one daughter; Audra Hinkle Lovelady of Newport, two sisters; Sherry Hinkle Bradley (Bob) of Newport and Goldie Mathews of Ozark, and three grandchildren; William Hinkle, Jr. of Russellville, Gabriel Hinkle of Russellville, and Madison Lovelady of Newport, and two beloved dogs; Dooley and Toby.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Newport. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
