Batesville High School senior-to-be Isabella (Izzy) Higginbottom, one of the premier guards — if not the premier guard — in Arkansas high school girls basketball, has committed to play her college basketball career at the University of Missouri.
With a year left in prep basketball, Izzy has already put her name to some outstanding accomplishments at Batesville High School. She led the team to the Class 4A state championship in 2019 and to the semifinals in 2020. And she was selected Most Valuable Player in the 2019 state tournament.
Izzy is a whiz with the basketball who can drive to the basket with the best of them. Her game gets stronger as the game progresses, and she has been at her best many times in the crucial fourth quarter.
Mizzou is getting a hard worker who would live in the gym if a coach would let her. Izzy has twice been an All-State selection and a Player of the Year in Arkansas girls high school basketball.
On her Facebook page, she said:
First and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me with the ability to play the game of basketball and for every opportunity He has given me. I would like to thank my family for being in my corner since day one. Thanks to my Mom and Dad for supporting me through this whole process and driving me all over the place to play the game I love. Thank you to all of the coaches who have taken the time to recruit me. Lastly, I want to thank Coach [Robin] Pingeton and the rest of the staff at Mizzou for this amazing opportunity. With that being said, after a lot of thought and prayer, I have decided to commit to the University of Missouri. Go Tigers!
