Obituary: Dallas Dean DuBois

Dallas Dean DuBois of Prim passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, in Batesville.

He was born November 17, 1940, in Hand County, S.D. to Daryl & Dorothy (Weber) DuBois.

Dallas married JoAnn Vernlund on May 28, 1961, and from this union a daughter, Danielle Lea (Scooter) DuBois, was born. Dallas later married Bonnie Carlton, on July 2, 1988.

Dallas enjoyed racing Modified Racecars at Huset’s Speedway, Sioux Falls, S.D., Sioux Empire Fair, Sioux Falls, S.D., South Dakota State Fair, Huron, S.D. and Brown County Fair, Aberdeen, S.D. from 1967 until 1974. Dallas worked for Sweetman’s Road Construction Company in Sioux Falls, S.D. before moving to Houston, Texas in the late 1970s to work for JF Barton Contracting Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, JoAnn DuBois Colbert; second wife, Bonnie (Carlton) DuBois (Jan.24, 2002); brother, Dwight DuBois; and two sisters, Shyla Barron and Nancy Bergjord.

Survivors include his daughter, Danielle DuBois of Reno, Nev.; brother, Doug DuBois of Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law Norris Bergjord, nine nieces and nephews: Nikki Oien, Nadine Nielsen, Shelly Murphy, Lonni Potts, Cully Barron, Brad Barron, Robin Morris, Tiffany Petersen, and Angela Tolrud and many great-nieces and nephews and his longtime faithful friend and neighbor, William Stubbs of Prim who has done so much to help him for so many years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
