A Batesville man was killed early Thursday morning in a one-car accident on State Highway 106 in rural Independence County.
According to the Arkansas State Police Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary, Carson J. Davis, 26, was killed after traveling eastbound on 106 when his 2006 Maxima ran off the roadway and struck a concrete bridge embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn. The Maxima then struck the embankment of the creek with its front, coming to a final rest on its top facing a southern direction, the report said.
The accident occurred around 1:45 a.m. Weather and road conditions were clear and dry, according to the summary.
This was the 198th traffic fatality in Arkansas this year, the report noted.
