A Newark man ran from police Sunday night and is still on the lam, according to the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Adam McGilton met a white, racing, all-terrain vehicle on Pfeiffer Road traveling with its headlights off.
McGilton turned around in an attempt to catch up to the ATV, also recognizing the ATV driver as Kelby Shane Epperson, 24.
Apparently, the ATV turned off Gainsboro Road and onto Austin Drive.
McGilton found the white ATV at the side of a residence on Austin Drive.
Sheriff Shawn Stephens came to assist as both officers after gaining permission from the homeowner to search the residence for Epperson, but officers did not find him.
The report said in addition to the current fleeing charge, Epperson also has a previous felony warrant for his arrest.
