news-siren-72

A Mammoth Spring man has been arrested after Arkansas State Police say the vehicle he was driving struck and killed a highway construction worker in Tyronza, Saturday, May 30.

The preliminary fatality report says Kristopher Gould, 27, of Mammoth Spring, was driving his 2010 Chevrolet Impala when the vehicle crossed over dividing barrels at the 11-mile marker on I-555 and struck the construction worker, identified as Preston Brayfield, 22, of Kansas City, Mo. Gould’s Impala then overturned and came to a rest in a field, the report said.

Brayfield was pronounced dead at the scene by the Poinsett County Deputy Coroner. Gould was reported as injured in the report.

Weather and road conditions were reported to be clear and dry at the time of the accident.

Mountain Home media outlet KTLO reports Gould is being held in the Poinsett County Jail on charges of negligent homicide, failure to maintain control, and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.
