Mountain View man killed in one-vehicle accident

According to the preliminary fatal crash summary from the Arkansas State Police, an accident involving one vehicle claimed the life of a Mountain View man just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 7.

The deceased, identified as Bob Herod, 53, of Mountain View, was driving a 2006 Ford F-250 on Highway 14 west of Mountain View, traveling westbound when the vehicle crossed the centerline and went off the other side of the highway and into a ditch. The truck struck a power pole then overturned.

The passenger of the vehicle, Karen Merriman, 53, of Marked Tree was injured in the accident and transported to UAMS in Little Rock.

The report notes the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
