Obituary: Jim Winningham

Jim Winningham, 88, of Concord passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on October 8, 1931, in Alco to Floyd and Lizzie (Berry) Winningham. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

After finishing Pleasant Grove High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years. Following discharge, he attended and graduated from State Teachers College.

Jim was the owner of auto parts stores in Batesville, Heber Springs, Newport and Ash Flat. He loved to fish, hunt and garden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Glenda (Martin) Winningham; three brothers, Othar, Floyd Jr. and Orvil; three sisters, Odelene Vickers, Irene Darcy and Oleta Strickland; as well as many other family members.

He is survived by his son, James Winningham of Concord; sister-in-law, Lois Winningham of Jonesboro, brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Donna Poynter of Maumelle, brother-in-law, Ron Munsey of Little Rock; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Winningham, Tim Winningham, Rick Winningham and Don Wilson.

A graveside visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020, at Evett Cemetery with graveside services directly following with Steve Smith officiating under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and social distancing will be observed.
