He will be in prison for a long time.

On Tuesday in Stone County Circuit Court, Judge Tim Weaver accepted a negotiated plea of guilty from Lloyd E. Stair (pictured), 47. Stair pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault in the second degree.

Stair was sentenced to 300 months in state prison on the rape charge and 60 months in prison on the five counts of sexual assault in the second degree.

Weaver said the sentences will run consecutively — meaning Stair was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison.

The case was brought to light in December of 2018. The court information said from Stair’s interviews and statements, it was learned that he and a minor victim had engaged in multiple incidents of sexual intercourse, sexual contact, and deviate sexual activity over a period of years. At the time, Stair was charged with eight counts of rape, which the court documents indicate occurred over the last six years. Stair’s wife, Stephanie Stair (pictured above), was accused at the time by investigators of knowing what was going on and doing nothing about it. She was charged with eight counts of permitting abuse of a minor.

Lloyd Stair was given credit for serving 567 days in jail awaiting his trial or negotiated plea. Stephanie Stair also appeared in court on “permitting child abuse charges.” Her case was continued until Aug. 13. She is out of jail. Her original bond was $125,000.
