Billy Joe Brannon of Newport departed this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the age of 86. He was born July 15, 1933, in Newport, the son of Allen Earl “Mickey” and Fannie (Chisholm) Brannon.
He was a graduate of Newport High School and attended Surrounded Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He worked many years in the trucking industry, managing Superior Freight Line, and leasing trucks to Revere Copper and Brass, and Victor Metal. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, duck hunting, and spending time on the farm with Joe Hardin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by one son, Joby Brannon and wife, Judy, of Newport, one daughter, Carol Ann Darnell and husband, Gerald, of Sanford, Fla.; one brother, Bobby Brannon and wife, Coletta; two grandchildren, Josie Jordan Hardin of Tupelo, Ark., and Caroline Elizabeth Darnell of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Stella Claire Hardin, Sawyer Grace Hardin, and Joseph Jack Hardin, Jr.; and a lifetime of friends.
The Brannon Family will hold graveside memorial services at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2020, at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hardin, John Pennington, Rick Fuller, and Rayburn Headley.
