Comfortable shoes are a luxury when you’re a doctor or nurse on the COVID-19 front line.

Some of those on the local front line “walked” into a surprise gift recently when a downtown Batesville business, Natural State Running, donated 40 pairs of shoes, valued at over $6,000, to some of those nurses and doctors.

Jennifer and Jonathan Dorris with Natural State Running are advocates of promoting community health, and they wanted to give back to those making sacrifices to assure the community remains healthy.

The donations went to nurses and doctors at White River Medical Center in Batesville, NEA Baptist in Jonesboro, and NEA Baptist Clinic in Newport.

Johnathan told White River Now one thing their business does is put people who are on their feet all day into a good pair of shoes that give comfort. He said for some time the business has discounted their shoe prices to medical personnel.

Jennifer knows how medical personnel can appreciate a good pair of sturdy and comfortable shoes. She is an APRN at the NEA Baptist Clinic in Newport, partnering in the practice with Dr. Matthew Jackson.

Jonathan said the donated shoes were made by OOFOS, Brooks, and Topo.
