Obituary: Shaina Beth Nicholson

150x100-7577545

Shaina Beth Nicholson of Newport, departed this life on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the age of 31. She was born December 3, 1988 in Newport, and raised in Swifton.

Shaina was a 2007 graduate of the Jackson County School District at Tuckerman and received her Bachelor of Communication Studies and Master of Communication Studies from Arkansas State University. Shaina worked for Zack Graham Flying Service, until 2012 when she became a professor of Oral Communications at Arkansas State, where she was loved by her students.

Shaina loved the country life, and could often be found riding the back roads of Jackson County. She loved a good bonfire and helping her dad on the farm. Shaina enjoyed painting, drawing, and taking care of her animals.

Most of all, she had a heart full of love that she was always willing to share, and was known as a wonderful listener, and a good friend. Shaina had an outgoing, larger than life personality, with a laugh that could fill a room. The world will be a quieter, sadder place without her in it.

Shaina is survived by her wife of six years, Kimberly (Tarno) Nicholson of the home; one daughter, Savanah Morris of Jonesboro; her father, Tim Nicholson and Sharon of Swifton; her mother, Karen (Stanford) Williams and Ricky of Newport; two brothers, Marcus Nicholson and Jeri of Cabot, and Jason Nicholson of Swifton; two sisters, Leah Salter and husband, Zack of Foley, Alabama, and Tanya Wood and husband, Cody, of Swifton; her nieces and nephews, Connor, Caden, Jaeden, and Summer; her goddaughter, Vaida Epperson of Newport; her dogs, Prue and Itsy; her cats, Yewshi and Bandit; and a lifetime of friends and former students.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Tuesday, July 21, 2020, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Haynes Cemetery.
