Former Lyon College women’s wrestler, Elissa Douglass, was one of four student-athletes who drew recognition for their academic achievement as the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) released their Wrestling Scholar-Athlete recipients on Wednesday afternoon.

The conference awarded SAC women’s wrestling Scholar Athlete accolades and sponsored women’s wrestling for the first time in 2019-20.

To earn the SAC Scholar Athlete Award, league student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, appear on the eligibility certificate for a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)-recognized sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer shall be eligible.

Douglass capped off her wrestling career this past winter as the top competitor in the 143-pound weight division at the SAC Championship. She also earned the title for the Most Pins at the SAC Championship.
