Arkansas State University-Newport delays Fall 2020 by one week

According to a press release from Arkansas State University-Newport, their Fall 2020 term will begin August 24, 2020. This is a one-week postponement from the originally planned start date of August 17, 2020.

With this postponement, students, faculty and staff will have more time to prepare for the upcoming semester. August 24, 2020, also coincides with the start date for public K-12 schools across the state. This postponement will align our schedule to match with our high school partners for students enrolled in concurrent credit courses and the IGNITE program. This also relieves possible stress on our students who are parents navigating childcare concerns.

This delayed start date does not apply to ARNEC, Practical Nursing, Traditional Registered Nursing or Cosmetology, nor does this date change impact the length of the fall semester. ASUN faculty and staff will adjust semester schedules to accommodate for this change.

Furthermore, in order to limit exposure, we are closely monitoring on-campus visitors. For this reason, anyone not employed or enrolled at ASUN, including outside vendors, must have an appointment before entering campus buildings and must follow our self-monitoring guidelines.

ASU-Newport continues to monitor COVID-19 with the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Arkansas Department of Health to provide a safe working and learning environment for all three campus communities.
