Independence County continues to be the hot spot for COVID-19 cases in north-central Arkansas. (Counties included: Independence, White, Lawrence, Cleburne, Randolph, Sharp, Baxter, Jackson, Stone, Van Buren, Izard, Fulton, and Searcy.)

White River Now’s Gary Bridgman noted that of the 434 active cases in the region (as of statistics from Monday morning), Independence County has 205, or just over 47 percent of the total active cases.

Also, of the 1,592 cases testing positive in the region, 23 percent of those are in Independence County.

So far, there have been 29 deaths reported in the 13 counties, just 2/10th of 1 percent of the total positive cases. And a more extraordinary fact is that Independence County has not experienced a single death in any of the 367 cases (which was up by 22 new cases between Saturday and Sunday).

The credit for that must go to the medical professionals, our doctors, nurses, and auxiliary personnel, in Independence County and throughout the region — waging the battles on the COVID-19 front lines every day.

See below for numbers as of this morning, Aug 3.
