An unreadable license plate led to the arrest of a couple on drug charges, according to documents filed in Stone County Circuit Court.
The court information says Billy Joe Massey, 42, and Jade Colette Cochran, 31, were stopped by Mountain View police for the unreadable license plate on Aug. 6.
Court papers said since both people in the vehicle were acting suspicious and both were parolees with search waivers on file, a search of their vehicle was made.
In their report, officers say they found a soda can with the top cut and two small baggies containing what later tested positive as methamphetamine.
The can also contained a cellophane package with marijuana, the court documents said.
Massey and Cochran were arrested and charged with possession of meth, a felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
Each was placed on a $10,000 bond.
